The German Panzer III and Panzer IV tanks were not the opponents of the Soviet T-34 and KV series tanks in the battlefields. Even the Tiger I heavy tank that started to appear sporadically in 1942 could hardly affect the overall situation. However, in the summer of 1943, a German tank with a T-34 appearance appeared on the front of Kursk. It had inclined armour which was hard to be penetrated. It was also equipped with a 75mm long barrel tank gun which was more powerful than the one on Tiger I. This tank was called Panther Ausf.D by the Germans. As more Panthers appeared on the front lines, the Soviets and the Allied forces find the Germans were still a powerful opponent.
This 1/35 scale German Medium Tank Sd.Kfz.171 Panther Ausf.D plastic model kit is another kit of famous WWII armour MENG release with the help of The Tank Museum in Bovington, UK and the editor Mr. David Parker of the Meng AFV Modeller magazine. This kit includes 1040 parts and the finished model is 252.9mm long, 98.6mm wide and 83.6mm high.
