[ About the Ferrari 250LM ]
In 1962, the World Sportscar Championship series that started in the 1950s was replaced with the International Championship for GT Manufacturers, changing its regulations to focus on production based GT cars. In order to secure the championship, Ferrari entered the 250GTO which would conquer Class GT-III up until 1964. However with rival Shelby Daytona becoming a threat, Ferrari needed a successor model. Using the 250P prototype model as a base, the 250LM was introduced in 1963. However having only built 32 out of the required 100 units, FIA turned down the 250LM's entry into the GT class and the car had to be runned as a prototype. Ferrari continued to use the 275/330P series, and the 250LMs were instead used by private teams. While Works Ferrari struggled with a series of retires in the 1965 Le Mans, N.A.R.T.'s 250LM entry Car no. 21 managed to win the championship. Two other 250LM entries (Car no. 26 and Car no. 27) also managed to take 3rd and 6th place respectively in the same race. The victory gave Ferrari 6th consecutive and 9 overall victories in Le Mans, and till this day (April of 2018) remains the last victory achieved by Ferrari in the series.
