Discover the Santa Maria, a wooden model kit from the biggest and the flagship of the three ships used by Christopher Columbus on his first voyage to the New World in 1492. Built in the shipyards of Colliders (Cantabria), she was the only ship of the expedition who did not return from the trip after running aground north of the island La Espanola. Guided by our detailed step by step instructions you can complete your replica of this legend of sailing.
The expedition left the port of Palos on August 3, 1492 led by the Santa Maria. After the discovery misfortune made her aground in the moment of maximum flood of that year in northern Haiti. it was quickly understood that it would be impossible to save the ship after discovering that the water level had dropped about 10 centimetres in the time to alert the crew and the first orders were given. With the load and part of the wooden ship they built Fuerte Navidad , the first European settlement in America.
