Bronco NB5021 1/350 LCS-1 USS "Freedom"

This is a plastic model kit, which comes unassembled and unpainted. So glue, model paints and other basic modelling tools are additionally required.

USS Freedom is a Littoral Combat Ship built by Lockheed-Martin and launched in 2006. It is a design competitor with USS Independence (LCS-2) built by General Dynamics. USS Freedom is of more conventional design than the Independence but is no less capable. Both are designed for shallow water combat and are capable of very high speeds. Powered by 2 Includes photo-etched metal detail parts. Builds into a full-hull model.

Rolls Royce MT30 gas turbine engines and 4 Colt-Pielstick diesel engines, Freedom is capable of over 47 knots and has a range of 6500 kilometers cruising at 21 knots. The hull is 115 meters long and has a low radar signature, displacement is 3000 tonnes at full load. Armament consists of a BAE Systems 57mm gun, 2 Bushmaster 30mm cannons, 21 RIM-116 anti-aircraft missiles and 45 NLOS (Griffin) surface to surface missies. Two MH-60 Seahawk helicopters are carried and several MQ-8 Fire Scout drones. The ship carries a core crew of 40 officers and men, a further 75 crewmen can be carried as part of a mission package. The ship is designed to be reconfigured to suit each mission, this being made possible by using interchangeable modules containing the necessary equipment. A third ship is under construction, LCS-3 USS Fort Worth, is a sister ship to USS Freedom and is due to be delivered to the US Navy in 2012.
