Mr Black Publications SMH-SMM10 Scale Modelling Manual Vol.10 Greek Hoplite on Scratch Built Base (24 pages)
Welcome to the 10th edition of our "Scale Modelling Manuals" series, where MRB provide extensive information on painting and general modelling techniques for all modellers at competitive prices. Up to now, each manual we've released has covered a specific topic in detail, offering a variety of approaches and techniques, mostly authored by a single expert. MRB meticulously curate and present the content of each manual to ensure readers discover something new to experiment with and adapt to their own methods.
Each book showcases high-quality photos and detailed text, allowing readers to easily follow the assembly and painting progress of each subject and gain insights into adopting new modelling techniques and approaches.
In previous editions, the length of each theme was constrained by the space needed for other features, but now there are no such limitations or omissions. Depending on the theme and content, real painted color chips of the hues and mixes have been included along with instructions on their usage.
This series covers various modelling techniques in Historic and Fantasy realms, including Scale Models, Dioramas, Vignettes, Figures and Busts, as well as Painting and Modelling Techniques. Additionally, it features some historical subjects that can be recreated in model form.
In this issue, master artist Sergey Popovichenko elaborates on how he meticulously crafted the bow of an Ancient Ship, providing scale drawings with dimensions in millimeters and demonstrating how he modelled and painted the waves around the hull. He has also provided a comprehensive painting guide for the colors and mediums he used to paint Seil Models' 54mm Greek Hoplite (SH54034), which unfortunately is no longer in production and difficult to find. However, he has included details of seven figure kits from various producers that can serve as alternatives to the Seil Models figure.
Included in this edition are Modelling Guides featuring 50 step-by-step photographs with exquisite detail and detailed text, totaling 100 illustrations. Sergey divulges all the secrets behind his scratch-built ancient ship bow section and its painting, as well as how he placed it on a scenic base of waves to achieve realism in depicting seawater painted with a combination of acrylic paints and oils. Additionally, you can learn how he achieved realistic flesh tones, fabrics, wood, metals, and the Gorgonian emblem on the shield through eleven step-by-step photos.
Special thanks are extended to AK-Interactive (Fernando Vallejo), Andrea Miniatures (Alexandra Fernandez), Vallejo Acrylics (Alex Vallejo), Scale75 (Xavi Tapias), Kimera Colors (Luca Marchetti and Pietro Balloni), Lifecolors (Alessandro Balbo and Rolando Iezzi), Yannis Papadopoulos, and our English Text Editor Ken Jones.
